Terms & policies · Pilot
Clear expectations for a community pilot.
These terms explain the tutoring model, age and guardian rules, communication boundaries, payments, cancellations, and appropriate use.
Service model
Elong is a pilot matching service for school-age students under 18 and volunteer high school tutors. It does not replace licensed teaching, special-education, mental-health, or other professional services, and it does not guarantee academic improvement.
Eligibility, guardians, and conduct
Adult students may not book minor tutors. Students of any school age may hold an account, but a guardian must coordinate and remain present throughout every in-person session for a student under 13. Users must provide accurate information, communicate through approved monitored channels, and follow the academic-integrity policy. In-person sessions occur only at confirmed public locations, and users arrange their own transportation.
Portal communication and files
Messages and files are available only to approved matches and authorized administrators. Users may not use the portal to exchange unsafe, unlawful, sexually explicit, harassing, or unrelated content. Elong may review portal activity for safety and program operations.
Payments and charitable giving
Payment is requested only after the tutor, time, and session format or location are confirmed. Families are not asked to select a charity. Elong determines charitable recipients and directs the full net session profit—the amount remaining after disclosed direct costs such as Square processing or approved learning materials—to charitable giving. Tutors never send payment links or handle payments. No statement of tax deductibility is made.
Cancellation and refund pilot policy
A student may cancel before the session begins and request a full refund. If a tutor or Elong cancels, the student may reschedule or receive a full refund. Refunds are processed and confirmed through Square; the Elong portal reflects the status after an administrator verifies it. Completed sessions are generally final, except for duplicate charges, processing errors, or another issue confirmed by an administrator. Email info@e-long.org with the booking details to request review.
Recurring, in-person, and online sessions
Each recurring session is confirmed and paid individually. In-person sessions occur at a mutually agreed, staffed public location. Students may request online tutoring, which requires agreement from both participants through an approved tool.
Food and session conduct
Tutors and students should not share food. Tutors should avoid eating during sessions; when eating is necessary, they should ask whether the other participant is comfortable and remain mindful of allergies and facility rules.
Emergency and reporting
For immediate danger, call 911 or contact on-site staff. For non-emergency safety or conduct concerns, email info@e-long.org for administrator review.
